Chicken, Alaska

We are hanging out in Tok, Alaska and camping at the Sourdough Campground, where Tom won the Sourdough Pancake Toss and got a free breakfast. Sourdough Pancakes and Reindeer Sausage. Santa probably will frown upon that...
We also drove up to Chicken, Alaska. Chicken was settled in the late 19th-century and due to the prevalence of ptarmigan in the area that name was suggested as the official name for the new community. The spelling of ptarmigan couldn't be agreed on so Chicken was used to avoid embarrassment. There is nothing embarrassing about that.

We had a tasty lunch at the Chicken Cafe and would highly recommend it if you ever find yourself in Chicken, Alaska. Tom suggests the Buffalo Chili and Leslie suggests the Salmon wrap.
