1880 Town

We survived a night of wicked storms blowing across the South Dakota prairie. We hooked the A House up to the Jeep to try make it more stable and crossed our fingers that we wouldn’t get blown over or struck by lightning and went to sleep.  Luckily neither of those things happened.

A friend saw 1880 Town on Google Street View and thought it looked fun so we went back in time about 100 and forty or something years and checked it out. And it was fun! 1880 Town is off Interstate 90 in South Dakota and it is a collection of 1880 era buildings and relics. There are also a museum, antiques for sale and props from the movie Dances with Wolves.

Even though we couldn’t rent costumes or get a drink at the saloon because it wasn’t peak season, we were still able to walk through all of the buildings, take fun pictures and play a mountain dulcimer on the porch of the saloon. Before we pulled out of town, we downed a couple of tasty Sioux City Sarsaparillas and then headed to the Badlands.

Look in the train window and see if you see a ghost.
